First video game job!

A year ago I quit my job in New York and decided to move out to Seattle on a whim to pursue a career in video games. It was a quite a gamble and I had no idea whether it would work out or not. It’s probably the most irresponsible but the best decision I ever made! I got to learn a lot of things and meet lots of wonderful artists and friends here in Seattle. I’m happy to say I got my first official video game job! I’ve been busy working at Zombie Games as an environment artist on Daylight and another unannounced title these past two months.

Space Buggy

Here are some screenshots of the finished space buggy in Cryengine. The vehicle was modeled in max, unwrapped in Maya, and the textures were made in Photoshop/Crazybump/xNormal. I looked at off road buggies, Jeep Wranglers and armored vehicles for reference. I’ve learned quite a bit about cars along the way!

Some new stuff to show! A Bernini bust I modeled to brush up on Zbrush and ease into Maya. Hipoly is modeled in Zbrush and lowpoly is unwrapped and textured in Maya.

Sci fi Room

Here is a sci fi scene I’ve been working on for these past months – the real reason why I missed Daily Draw February this year! I’ve been wanting to work on something science fiction related for a while and thought modeling out Paul Richard‘s concepts would be a nice start. It’s been the most rewarding and challenging 3d project I’ve done to date. Special thanks to Eli Hanselman and Derrick Hammond for their helpful feedback!

Arenanet Art Test

Finally got some 3d stuff to show! This is a house I modeled for the Arenanet internship. The textures were created through a combination of photo textures and baking from Zbrush and 3dsmax. The sky was made from skypaint and photoshop with photo textures. Sadly the environment art portion of the internship got cancelled, but overall it was a great learning experience. I’m much more comfortable using Cryengine and the 3d modeling programs now.
